Lake Billy Shaw is a reservoir in northeast Nevada on the Duck Valley Reservation.  It is managed as a trophy trout lake with stocks of large, aggressive triploid rainbows.  The action can be very good in the spring.

The lake is fairly large so pontoon boats or float tubes with oars are recommended.  The distances to be covered make kick fin only propulsion impractical.  A depth finder is also highly recommended.

Typical trout rods in 5 and 6 weight with both floating and full sinking lines.  Stripping streamers and chironomids under an indicator are most common techniques.

No Nevada license is required.  A permit from the Duck Valley Reservation must be purchased near the lake for both camping and fishing.

The camping is on a few small areas around the lake.  There are no services except for pit toilets.  The camp areas are first come, first served and can accommodate 2 to 3 campers so attendance is limited.  Spring time can bring afternoon thunderstorms and chilly nights.

Duck Valley Reservation is about 1.5 hours north of Elko, NV so the trip there and back take the better part of a day.  Thus, Monday and Friday are travel days with Tuesday thru Thursday for fishing.
