We support conservation efforts!

As a charitable organization, IRS 501(c)3, we support conservation efforts on our local waters. Some examples include:

  • The Club has a long time membership in the Truckee River Watershed Council's Together for the Truckee Society contributing $1,000 in 5 year commitments. The Watershed Council is incredibly active in performing restoration work across the entire Truckee River Watershed in California. Our members also are always encouraged to participate in their Truckee River Day where they organize hundreds of volunteers to accomplish many individual projects from spreading spawning gravel to planting trees. Our watershed has been manipulated and abused for 150 years, from logging to ice ponds to railroad spurs to the interstate highway to diversions of feeder streams. TRWC is doing the hard work to correct many of these issues.
  • Our local Trout Unlimited Chapter 103 has been a great resource for our area waters. They have organized restoration projects on the Little Truckee and Truckee Rivers which the Club supported both financially and with labor from our members. We also partner with them on other projects like buying and putting up signs on the Truckee and Little Truckee alerting anglers to the special regulations on these waters.
  • The Club has supported the Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships for several years with financial grants. SWEP supplements our local school district science programs with field trips on aspects of the watershed, conservation and biology. They also coordinate the district's Trout in the Classroom program.
  • The board is always looking for ways to impact our local resource either financially or through volunteers from our membership. Please contact us if you know of a likely opportunity at ttflyfishers@gmail.com
