This is a one day “Hosted Group Fish” for fishing Pyramid Lake.  The host is Mike Curtis of Bucking Trout Outfitters.  This event is similar to a TTFF group fish event except you’ll be fishing with an experienced guide(s) (the number of guides depend on the number of attendees, the goal is 1 guide per 4 attendees) who will select a fishing location, provide some of the gear you need, provide breakfast and lunch with drinks, and coach you to improve your fishing skills and increase your odds of catching some of Pyramid’s legendary large Lahontan Cutthroat Trout.

Your guides will be on the lake well before dawn to secure a beach and set up for the day.  You can arrive any time you like, but fishing will start at dawn to take advantage of the early morning bite.  Mike will communicate the meeting location to you closer to the date of the event.  After checking your tribal permit (required) for fishing Pyramid, and brief introductions, you’ll rig your gear and start fishing.  A hot breakfast will be served at about 8:00-9:00 AM then resume fishing.  A hot lunch will be served around noon and you’ll fish until about 3:30 PM.   You’ll need to bring your own 7-8 weight fly rod, reel(s), a floating line, a fast-sinking line/fast sinking shooting head line, leaders, ~12 lb. tippet, indicators, split shot/weight, flies, waders/boots, a large net, warm clothing, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and your usual fishing tools/accessories.  Flies will be provided, but you can use your own if your prefer;  flies that work well include wooly bugger and wooly worm flies in size 4-8, balanced leeches in similar size, tui chub baitfish patterns in #2-8, red and black midges in #8-12, popcorn beetles, etc.  Make sure you flies are tied on strong hooks.   Mike will provide the ladders you’ll fish from and he'll have some back-up gear.

The cost of the outing is $205/person exclusive of a tip (at your discretion, but greatly appreciated considering the early set up/start of the day).  We need a minimum of 6 attendees to conduct this outing, and there is a maximum of 12 attendees.  If we don’t have at least 6 attendees, the clinic will be rescheduled when more can attend or canceled and your payment will be refunded.  If you cancel, you registration fee will be refunded only if there is someone to take your spot.  If the weather is too bad, the clinic may need to be postponed or canceled.   This is a great opportunity to fish with fellow TTFF members, learn more about fishing Pyramid Lake, and maximize your chance of landing some of Pyramid Lakes famous Lahontan Cutthroat Trout.  If you have any questions about registration, contact Tom Olinger at tompolinger@gmail.com.  If you have questions about the meeting time/location, gear to bring, etc., contact Mike Curtis directly at mike@buckingtrout.com, phone number 775.997.3673.  Thanks, and enjoy the outing.

NOTE:  If anyone would like lodging accommodations, Mike has a corporate rate set up with the Peppermill
Resorts.  This includes the Peppermill Casino and Spa and Western Village. The Western Village is about
15-20 minutes closer to the lake than the Peppermill.  Drive time is about 35-45 minutes from Western Village. If any one would like a room, please call Mike and he can send you instructions on booking a room.
