Join "da Dean" Frank Pisciotta for a summer day of learning the basic fundamentals of fly fishing alongside the Truckee River at the Glenshire Bridge.
The Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers’ "Basic Skills Clinic"is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2020. It is intended for fly fishing novices with no or minimal fly fishing experience and those those beginner/intermediates wishing to brush up on their existing skills. It is open to TTFF adult members (18 years+).
Participants will be introduced to the basic skills of fly angling in a fun and very relaxed atmosphere. Upon completion of the clinic, participants can pursue the sport at their leisure building upon the introduced basic skills needed to dupe a wild trout….thereafter making this fascinating sport as “simple or sophisticated” as they wish.
The angling topics introduced/discussed will be:
1) Fly Fishing Gear
2) Three Essential Knots
3) Two Fundamental Fly Fishing Casts
4) Trout Foods
5) Fly Selection
The clinic lead is Frank R. Pisciotta and other TTFF club members
There is room for 6 participants. Space will be made available on a first-come first-serve basis. There is a $20.00 fee to off-set costs for Tahoe National Forest usage-fees; leaders, flies in addition to a clinic packet which includes print-outs of Frank’s essays entitled “Truckee River Primer”, “Trout Needs” and "What Fly Do I Use?"
WHAT TO BRING----Participants will need to bring their California fishing license, fly rod/reel, wading gear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and lunch/drinks. We’ll meet at the Glenshire Bridge on the Truckee River at 9AM. The event will end at 2-3PM.
