The Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers (TTFF)
Cliff Frazier Memorial Youth Fly Fishing Camp
The Tahoe Truckee Fly Fisher’s, Cliff Frazier Memorial Youth Fly Fishing Camp was founded in 2003 and continues to introduce young anglers to the sport while honoring the legacy of longtime club member Cliff Frazier.
Established by then-president Alex Penney and past-president Rudy Knudson, the Camp began as a way for local Boy Scouts to earn their Fishing Merit Badge. Following Frazier’s passing in 2003, his family donated funds to purchase equipment, formally launching the program in his name.
Knudson led the Camp until 2013, after which Club Board Member Mike Brugh took over. In 2014, the program partnered with the San Francisco Fly Casting Club, which now hosts the three-day summer camp, offering access to its clubhouse and a prime stretch of the Truckee River.
The Camp remains a key part of the Club’s mission to foster a love of fly fishing in the next generation.

Our two-and-a-half-day Youth Fly Fishing Camp is designed to give young anglers a fast, hands-on introduction to the basics of fly fishing. Participants learn essential skills such as how to rig a fly rod, tie key knots, and understand trout behavior—with the ultimate goal of catching fish! Each camper is paired one-on-one with an experienced Club member for guided fishing on the Truckee River.
This is the premier youth fly fishing program in the region and, at just $150, offers incredible value. The camp is open to youth ages 10 to 14 who have not participated in previous years. Enrollment is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 2026 camp will take place July 28–30.
