About this event

This is a 4 night backpacking and fly fishing trip to a number of high alpine lakes in search for brook and rainbow trout in the super scenic Ansel Adams Wilderness just outside Mammoth Lakes CA. Day 1 is Sunday July 5 and Day 5 is Thursday July 9.

The general plan is to
- Take the High Trail (PCT) from Agnews Meadow TH to Thousand Island Lake and setup basecamp for 2 nights and explore the lakes in that area (9mi +1800ft -500ft)
- Head south on the John Muir Trail past Ruby, Emerald and Garnet Lakes to basecamp at Ediza Lake for 2 nights, explore that area  (7mi +600ft -1200ft)
- Return back to Agnews Meadows TH via the Shadow Creek Trail to Shadow Lake and the River Trail along the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River (7mi +300ft -1300ft)

We will be hiking and exploring at high altitudes, 8,335ft start with max elevation 10200, so physical conditioning and altitude preparation are essential to making this a safe and enjoyable trip. If you’re interested in joining or have any question, give me a call or send me a note (williamhswift@gmail.com) to discuss.
