Stillwater Fly Fishing
Phil Rowley will discuss Advanced Chironomid Techniques
Throughout the open water season, chironomids are the number one item in the diet of trout in productive stillwaters. Today, most fly fishers target fish using chironomid patterns in shallow water, their flies suspended under an indicator. This presentation uses the content detailed in Phil and Brian Chan’s Conquering Chironomids-Advanced Techniques DVD to take your chironomid skills to the next level. Techniques such as deep water indicator tactics using low stretch leaders, long leader tactics, slow sinking line techniques and dangling using fast sinking lines will be discussed in detail. The presentation also details fly pattern design and material considerations to take pattern design to the next level. This presentation would be of great assistance to anyone wishing to improve their skills and understanding when tying and fishing chironomids.
