Guest Speaker Matt Heron

Matt is an east coast native, who started fly fishing in the Adirondacks and great lakes in 1991.

Today Matt runs his fly fishing school and outfitter, Matt Heron Fly Fishing in Truckee, CA near Lake Tahoe. His school at Everline Resort is widely recognized as one of the premier fly fishing education programs in the country. His team of guides focuses primarily on daily classes in the summer and the year-round guiding on the Truckee and Little Truckee Rivers, and surrounding fisheries.

Matt is a Fly Fishers International, and Far Bank, Certified Casting Instructor. Matt also serves as the Regional Director for the Reno/Tahoe chapter of Cast Hope and is on the editorial committee for Calidornia Fly Fisher magazine.

In his “free” time, Matt is lucky enough to host his guests to some of the world’s finest fly fishing destinations and lodges around the world.

Fly Fishing the Truckee in the Fall and Winter

Twenty year, veteran Truckee guide, Matt Heron will be talking about fall and winter fly fishing strategies on the Truckee River—what makes it unique, how trout behave as the water gets colder, and the techniques that help you find success when conditions are tough.

He'll cover reading the water during the colder months, share his go-to flies and strategies for fall and winter. By the end, you’ll have the tools to extend your season and catch more trout in cold water.”
