We’ll cover everything you need to know to fish effectively from shore, float tubes, and rafts, with a focus on targeting trout in 8 to 30 feet of water. Topics will include:
-
Fly rod and reel setup for Stillwater
-
Leader and indicator rigging (including slip indicators)
-
Fly selection and seasonal patterns
-
Most importantly: how to read the depth and structure of lakes
Spring lake fishing can be incredibly rewarding when you use the right tactics and keep things simple. As water temps rise, trout move into shallower zones, offering the perfect opportunity to chase them with balanced leeches, chironomids, and streamers.
Whether you're brand new to Stillwater or just looking to refine your setup, this clinic will give you the tools and confidence to fish lakes more effectively this season.
What to bring:
- 5-7wt Fly Rod with floating line
- 6-8lb leader
- indicators
- flies - balanced leeches, wooly buggers, midges
- float tube, fins. We will have a few float tubes and fins available to borrow
- PFD for float tube
The cost of the Clinic is $155 per person. Tips to the Guide can be made at your discretion. Once you register, refunds can be made only if your slot is taken by someone else. We need a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 registered participants for this Clinic. If the number of registrants is too small, the Clinic will be deferred or cancelled. If the Clinic fills and we have more interest from our members, we’ll see if we can arrange another Clinic at another time. Thank you for your understanding, and enjoy this learning opportunity on our premier local fishery.
