This is Event #4 in TTFF’s 2nd Annual Summer Series of Fly Fishing in the local Tahoe Truckee area.

The Summer Series is of a number of regular (bi)weekly weekend morning meetups at one of the great local Tahoe Truckee fly fishing spots through the summer months. Each starts as an early 8-9am get together, an opportunity to learn a few things, meet a few other members, pick up on a few things from those who have fished these areas, and fish as long or short as you want on these classic Tahoe Truckee waters. The series is great for both beginners and advanced fly fishers, young and old, single or couple or family.

Fly Fishing 101 in 2 parts. 

Part 1 will focus on rod and reel selection, set up of leaders and tippets commonly used on local waters as well as the casting techniques to use.  The content will be aimed at the beginner but also appropriate to those who want to refine their casting.  

Part 2 will cover the fish, where to find them, how to read the water, knots, what trout eat and the flies that mimic what they eat, on stream essentials to have with you and more.  Again, the content will be aimed at the beginner but very appropriate for anglers that have been learning for a few years.  

Both sessions will be held on the river along Glenshire Road.

5/18 - #1 Fly Fishing the Little Truckee - a great tailwater river section below Stampede Reservoir.

6/15 - #2 FlyFishing the Truckee River along Glenshire - a great local spot with easy access and great fishing especially early in the summer

6/28 - #3 Fly Fishing 101 Part 1 - a clinic covering rods, reels, lines, leaders and tippet as well as the basic over head cast, roll cast and casting an indicator for all levels of anglers.

7/12 - #4 Fly Fishing 101 Part 2 - a clinic covering what trout eat, flies, on stream essentials, reading water and more. 

Part 1 and 2 can be taken separately but together are a more complete introduction to fly fishing for the beginner to intermediate angler.  Clinics be held on the Truckee River along Glenshire.

7/27 - #5 Fly Fishing the Truckee River at Horner's Corner - great Truckee access just west off highway 80.

8/3 - #6 Fly Fishing the Little Truckee - a great tailwater river section below Stampede Reservoir

8/10 - #7 Fly Fishing the Truckee River west of NV state line - great access to great water near the state line
Note: What we learned last year is that as we get near the date, mother nature has the final say with water flows and water temperature, so there might be last minute location adjustments if needed.
