A full day of learning and exploring the Middle Fork Feather River with Matt from Lost Sierra Fly Guide. . In the morning we focus on learning how to effectively Euro Nymph on a long Mono Rig leaderand how and why I use the Mono Rig. Matt will share details from custom-made leaders to hand-tied flys, presentations, line management, casting, drift, and connecting with the fish! Throughout the day, we'll lightly discuss other techniques that are effective on the MFF river, while our primary focus is on Euro Nymphing, we will also explore the dry dropper, indicator nymphing, stripping and jigging streamers, and the late afternoon dry fly hatch. The morning will focus on demonstrations and after lunch, we will apply those techniques to the river with one-on-one feedback from Matt. In addition to the river fishing, Matt will share some great fishing spots.
Each participant should brings snacks, lunch and water.
We’ll meet up at the Chevron in Graeagle and then travel by foot or car to the river.
Items needed for the day:
Gear - bring 3-4wt 9-10 foot fly rod. My go-to rod is a 3wt10’6 but any rod will do. Bring 3-5X tippet. Flies, bring bead head flies or some weight. Fly sizes 12-16. Hare’s ears, Peaches and Cream, Frenchies, prince nymphs, and or the typical “euro bug” patterns.
Lunch / Water
The cost of the Clinic is $155 per person. Tips to Matt can be made at your discretion. Once you register, refunds can be made only if your slot is taken by someone else. We need a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 registered participants for this Clinic. If the number of registrants is too small, the Clinic will be deferred or cancelled. If the Clinic fills and we have more interest from our members, we’ll see if we can arrange another Clinic at another time.
