About this event
This is a Stillwater clinic for beginners, those new to fly fishing and specifically, fly fishing lakes. We'll meet at a local lake (TBD) at 9:00 on October 6, 2024, and will start by discussing the basics of fly fishing lakes: lake characteristics, how to find fish in lakes, trout food in lakes and flies, gear, including watercraft, knots, presentation techniques, etc. After lunch (BYO lunch), we'll fish the lake and practice what we learned in the morning. We'll finish by about 4 PM.
Bring your rod, reel, fly line, any flies you have, leaders and tippet, waders and boots, hat, sunscreen, warm clothes, water, etc. (your usual fishing gear). If you have a float tube or pontoon boat, fins, and a PFD, bring those too; if not, let me know and I'll try to arrange to bring some watercraft, fins, and PFD for you to use so you can more effectively fish the lake.
There is no charge for this clinic. If you have any questions, please let me know at tompolinger@gmail.com.
