Have you wanted to fish the Feather River but wasn't sure where or how?  Join Orvis-endorsed guide, Mike Pease, who resides along the Feather and is an expert guide! 

 

The Sierra Fly Girls fishing on the Feather River class is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2020, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  It is intended for women with intermediate to advanced fly fishing experience or those beginner/intermediates wishing to brush up on their existing skills.  It is open to SFG adult members (18 years+).

 

There is room for 4 participants. Space will be made available on a first-come first-serve basis. The fee is $162.50 which includes 8 hours of instruction, lunch and a $20.00 fee for Tahoe National Forest usage-fees; leaders and flies provided as needed.

 

TO REGISTER----Please register a minimum of two weeks in advance. Click on the registration button at the right to reserve a spot.  Additional information will be sent via email during the month before.


WHAT TO BRING----see below

 


Mandatory Items

  • California Fishing License - we cannot fish without it, you can order on-line & print it out https://www.ca.wildlifelicense.com/InternetSales/
  • Breathable chest high waders & wading boots (most reasonably priced on Cabelas.com) MANDATORY in spring, fall, or winter optional in summer Prepared to wade - wading shorts & wading shoes (summer only) Tevas or Chacos are good (able to wade waist high) OR chest high waders & wading boots (see below)  If wading shorts & wading shoes, then change of clothes each day
  • Sunglasses (polarized much preferred)
  • Magnifying glasses & leash (for those of us that need them this is a must!) I use 3.0
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Clothes for hot, cold and rain gortex rain slicker, I like Smart Wool and/or fleece bring layers
  • Extra clothes for after in case you get wet
OPTIONAL:
  • Rod - 8.5’ to 9’, 5 or 6 weight is best
  • Reel - floating line, 7.5-10' leader ending in 4x. Bring 4x and 5x tippet
  • Varying size split shot, thing a ma bobber as indicator.
  • Fly fishing vest
  • Wading staff (old ski pole with a rope leash works well)

  • Flies (I will provide, but if you want for after our trip) - Nymphs- bead head prince and
  • birds nest Sz 14. Dries - caddis Sz 14, parachute Adams 16-12, and orange stimulator
  • size 8-12
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Towel
  • Bathing suit for days we go swimming
  •  Camera
  • Knapsack for extra clothes and items

DON'T bring valuables that you have to leave in your car - just in case For full day guide dates, don’t bring lunch – Mike will provide it
