About this event

Webber Lake is a natural lake located about 25 miles from Truckee on the road to Jackson Meadow reservoir, making it an easy trip for most of our members.  It is stocked with Lahontan cutts and has a good population of holdover brookies with some rainbows and browns.  Most of the fish I catch here are in the 12-18" range but there are some big fish in the lake.  At an elevation of about 6800', it fishes a bit earlier in the fall than some lower elevation lakes.

You need a watercraft to best fish this lake; a float tube, pontoon, or small boat is ideal.  Various tactics and flies work here; I usually have one rod rigged for indicator fishing with a balanced leech/ jig style leech, and another with a sinking line and nymphs or a wooly bugger/leech.  Various nymphs work in about #12-16, and wooly buggers in brown, olive, and black are effective (the "Thin Mint" bugger, a tri-color brown, black and olive fly is a personal favorite here).  There are minnows in the lake and I think they are a prime food source for the trout.

We'll meet at around 8:00-8:30 and fish as long (or not) as you'd like.   Bring some lunch, drinks, and sunscreen and enjoy a day fishing this beautiful lake near home!  If you have any question, let me know.
