This is Event #6 in the TTFF Summer Series of fly fishing in the local Tahoe Truckee area. For the latest on this series, check out the latest posts in the TTFF Group Fish Outings & Clinics forum

Milton Reservoir is one of the most picturesque fishing lakes in our region northwest of Truckee and about 15 minutes past Webber Lake. It is located below Jackson Meadows Reservoir on a dirt road that takes off to the right before crossing the dam. As it is fed from the bottom of the dam of Jackson Meadows Reservoir the water is always cold, in the low to mid-50s, and as Dick Gander would say a great place to fish in the hot summer months and also check out John Marcacci's video for the Milton Midge - you will need several of those in your box! It is also a great place to fish for all skill levels. This is the second lake I fished floating, this time I will wear heavier socks for sure. If you do not have a float tube or pontoon, please send me a message so we can have a loaner for you to use. We will meet at the reservoir side day use parking area across the road from the rest room.

The Summer Series is of a number of regular (bi)weekly weekend morning meetups at one of the great local Tahoe Truckee fly fishing spots thru the summer months. Each starts as an early 9am get together, an opportunity to learn a few things, meet a few other members, and fish as long or short as you want. If we are lucky, some of the club’s longer term members who have fished these waters for years might also drop in and share some their wisdom on these classic Tahoe Truckee waters. The series is great or both beginners and advanced fly fishers, young and old, single or couple or family.

This is a great way to learn a variety of fly fishing skills on both the local rivers and local lakes, be it dry fly fishing, indicator nymphing, euro nymphing, float tubes, pontoons, etc. Not sure about casting or or how to tie a knot, not sure which fly to use when, not sure how to approach a section of river or lake, not sure if lake fishing is for you, this could be a great opportunity to learn and meet other like minded fly fishers. If you are not sure you have the right equipment, let us know as we have a number of rods/lines/flies and tubes/pontoons you can try out.
